Davy Crockett

The above photo, shows his fabulous color the most accurately. His "extremely" dark liver color, with red chocolate dapples, topped with a reddish flaxen mane is not a color we have seen often. We have seen now, that he is siring chocolate palomino!

This is the first time he has had a rider on him, in the 6 years following his leg fracture. He was great!! What a loss to the mountain trails... However, his foals are up there.

1993 Deep Liver Chestnut, Missouri Fox Trotter Stallion

In our effort to breed and raise the very best of what this great breed has to offer, we are proud to introduce, Foundation Breeding, at its best !!

Davy's dam is World Champion, Rockaway Lady C. Making Davy a direct grandson of Zane's Go Boy, and the great producing mare Bomb's Rockaway Candy.

Davy's late sire, Zane's Boss Man, is unknown by many in today's show world. However, his foals are WELL known, by serious mountain riders, all over the United States. They are sought after for their quiet, calm, ability to carry their riders though very tough terrain, in SMOOTH safety.

Davy has carried on his sire's reputation, by producing incredible mountain, riding horses, that do an honest, good FOXTROT. A consistent comment made by owners of foals by Davy, is that " they are gentle and easy to handle from birth on". Many even saying that "they are the best horses they have ever had" We are also being told that they are showing "cow sense" and like to follow a cow. Some are also showing a talent for jumping. Great Versatility horses!!

Visitors to the ranch have been amazed at Davy's incredibly kind, easy temperament. He loves attention and is very gentle and quiet with the smallest children. He is truly a treasure, and fortunately he is very consist ant at passing on his wonderful traits. He also has a really good front end, carries himself with alot of style, and has great bone and feet.

We are unable to show more photos of him under saddle. Due to a now healed fracture, to his right front leg, received prior to his coming to our ranch. Keith popped on for only 5 minutes, to see how he would do. He was awesome!! Sadly, he will not be ridden again.

Davy would be an excellent choice to cross to non-gaited mares, of all breeds. Endurance riders, would do well to seriously consider Davy for their good endurance mares, for a great endurance horse prospect.

6 year old mare, sired by Davy

Shasta, is owned by

John and Sylvia Ahearn, in Texas.

The Ahearns emailed, to tell us, how much they enjoy their mare by Davy. They were kind enouph to share these photos and words of praise about her.

Photo at left shows Shasta in the middle of shedding out. Shown below all shed out.

We thought, with Davy's deep color, he could produce chocolate palomino, now we know he does.

Thanks for contacting us Sylvia !!
